INTO TOUCH. PHANTOM BODIES' UNIVERSES

A lecture-performance created for „Hi, ROBOT! Das Mensch Maschine Festival“ by tanzhaus nrw as part of the symposium „Was der technokörper vermag und verweigert“, curated by Karin Harrasser, happening within MetaMarathon in NRW Forum 15th-17th of March. The session was an insight into artistic practice named PHANTOM BODIES | REAL PLEASURES that originates from interdisciplinary research relating movement practices and cognitive science (more on the initial research: PHANTOMS BEYOND THE BRAIN). The initial theme, phantomic sensations, has been developed further in an investigation on the tangency of sensation and imagination, inspired by artists and researchers who explore touch and enwidened by other body concepts, such as dreambody and bodymind. The lecture features exercising the scores that constituted phantom bodies | real pleasures and first hand report on both phantom sensations caused by loosing a limb, as well as the response to a somatic practice that incorporates this theme.
