A FEELING THAT THIS IS THE CASE

Movement practices that rely on observing inner somatic and imaginary landscapes can grant the body a kind of autonomy – its own language, form and agency. One of such practices, that became the object of my investigation in the recent years, explores the embodiment of imagination and can allow the body to feel as if it was transforming itself into multiple living forms. In the performance, I juxtapose this practice with my early movement experiences – a childhood career in rhythmic gymnastics dominated by discipline and competition – as an attempt to raise questions of ontological plasticity and the role of various practices in forming paradigms about bodies, lifes and social structures.
